Some links to sites with information on equipment, Photoshop, colour management, etc.:

A good source of hints and tips on all aspects of imaging can be found on Earthbound Light

More tutorials on photography, printing and colour management at Norman Koren Photography

A good description of colour management is given on Dry Creek Photo

There are many sites with free tutorials on Photoshop and Elements (tip: to find these, do a search

for Photoshop tutorials, or Elements tutorials).  The following are some that we've looked at:

Photoshop Basics at About.com         Elements at About.com

 Tutorialized.com

 Planet Photoshop

 Photoshop Roadmap

Photoshop at Photoshopsupport.com        Elements at Photoshopsupport.com

For Elements users who would like more of the functionality of Photoshop, there are a couple

of plug-ins which are very useful.  First, a proper Curves tool can be added using SmartCurve

and layer masks can be added with the free Hidden Power Tools for Elements, together with

 a range of other tools.

Free plug-ins and actions for Photoshop and Elements can be found at the following sites,

(some of which also include commercial products):

 Web Resources Depot

 8bf.net

 The Plugin Site

 Action Central

 PhotographyBB

If you've recently bought a new camera and find that your version of Photoshop doesn't open

the RAW files, try the free RawTherapee converter, for Windows and Linux.

Alternatively, Adobe's DNG Converter will convert the RAW file into Adobe's Digital Negative format,

which will then open in Photoshop.  Click here for Windows, and here for Macintosh.

A useful free program called ExposurePlot can be found here, which analyzes the images in a

folder and provides histograms of shutter speeds, apertures, focal lengths and ISO speeds.

Equipment reviews can be found on the following sites:

 Digital Photography Review

 Steve's Digicams

 Imaging Resource

 Fred Miranda

Some very useful information on CompactFlash and SD/SDHC memory cards can be found here

Descriptions on how to clean the camera sensor can be found at Copper Hill Images,

 Cleaning Digital Cameras and CameraClean.
